'Mulberry Wine' Acrylic On Canvas
A ‘Dutch’ pour is an acrylic pouring technique that uses air to move the paints on a canvas. You can use a hairdryer, straw and lungs/mouth, or anything that blows air.
For this piece, I wanted both black and white negative space, which is the area around the main focal point of the painting; the ‘light between the trees.’
Using complementary colours, to make a deep contrast between negative and positive space, draws the eyes to this beautiful composition. I decided upon both 'black' and 'white' negative space to evoke a feeling of surprise and sophistication.
These particular pours are known for the ribbon-like edges and cell lacing that can be achieved using this technique.
